Afternoon Halloween Party

The Halloween party was a blast. The kids were super cute and they got to decorate cupcakes, make trick-or-treat bags, play Halloween bingo, and graph M&M's. We played Don't eat Pete and, build a skeleton, sang lots of Halloween songs, and had bubbling witches brew, Carmel apple, witches broomsticks, and cheese for snack.
Thank you to all the parents who came and helped and who brought food and other things!

Halloween

We had a fun week talking about Halloween. We mixed cornstarch and water to make 'slime' (so if your child came home with white all over their clothes, that's what it was-we were a bit messy). We sorted Halloween candy into color groups, we made spiders, 5 little pumpkins, and ghosts. We read lots of Halloween stories and talked about he letter H and the color black. I can't wait to see all the kid in thier costumes on Friday!

Wild Things

My camera never made it down to the preschool this week, but the kids really enjoyed our Wild Things week. We focused on the letter R, the color brown, and stars. We also talking about what is real and what is pretend. The kids got to use their masks to act out the wild thing characters from the story along with my Max and Wild thing puppets. Look for all their Wild things on the wall next time you come to preschool!

Mice

We had some fun with mice this week. We worked a lot on counting and colors. The kids loved retelling the story "lunch" with all my giant pieces. They also love tell the story "Mouse Count" with the ten mice, the jar, and the snake.
They kids had a lot of fun with the 'mouse nest' that had numbered mice, cheese, toy mice, and things that start with M.
The classes made their own class book, each child contributing a page that says "if ____ were a mouse he would eat_____. Then they got to cover the mouse in colors of that food. They also used paint to dip toy mice in and make them dance all over the paper.
I think the favorite activity this week was copying the mouse from "if you take a mouse to school" and doing a purple explosion science experiment.-

We had a fun week reading Jack and the beanstalk. We played in magic beans, made our own beanstalks, learned big and little, worked on some rhyming, planted our own magic beans, learned the letter J, squares, and the color green.
